SmartRank Privacy Policy

When you run an SEO analysis, the SmartRank extension reads the publicly available DOM of the page you are viewing — page HTML, meta tags (title, description, Open Graph, Twitter Cards), heading tags, image attributes, link attributes, and Schema.org structured data. This data is processed in real time and is not stored on our servers.

If you use the AI-powered features (title generation, meta description generation, deep HTML analysis), the page HTML, the page URL, and your selected language are sent over HTTPS to our backend so an AI model (currently Google Gemini) can produce the suggestion. The data is processed for that single request and is not retained.

The extension stores your analysis history locally on your device using the Chrome Storage API. This includes URLs you analyzed, SEO scores, timestamps, and your language preference. This data never leaves your device and we have no access to it.

SmartRank does not collect personal identification information, names, email addresses, phone numbers, passwords, payment information, location data, or general browsing history.

We do not use cookies, advertising identifiers, or third-party tracking scripts inside the extension. We do not monitor pages you visit unless you explicitly trigger an analysis.

We use the data the extension processes solely to perform SEO analysis, generate AI-powered content suggestions, improve the extension, and persist your local analysis history for your own convenience.

We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose unrelated to providing SmartRank's functionality.

Local data (analysis history, language preference) is stored only on your device through Chrome's Storage API. Uninstalling the extension or clearing browser data removes it.

Network requests to our backend are encrypted with HTTPS. The extension's Content Security Policy explicitly restricts connections to a single backend origin, blocking arbitrary outbound traffic.

AI requests are processed in memory and are not written to a persistent database on our servers.

When AI features are used, content is forwarded from our backend to a large-language-model provider — currently Google Gemini — to generate the suggestion. Google's privacy practices apply to that processing. See Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

We do not share your data with any third party other than the AI provider strictly required to fulfill an AI feature request.

activeTab — read the DOM of the tab you are currently viewing so SmartRank can analyze it. Used only when you click the extension or trigger Quick SEO Check.

storage — save your analysis history and language preference locally on your device.

contextMenus — add the "Quick SEO Check" entry to the right-click menu so you can run an analysis without opening the popup.

notifications — show the score and a short summary after a Quick SEO Check.

You can view your stored analysis history at any time inside the extension popup, clear it from the extension UI, or remove it entirely by uninstalling SmartRank.

You can stop using the AI features at any time; the core SEO analysis runs locally without contacting our backend.

Subject to applicable law (including the GDPR and CCPA), you may request access to or deletion of any data you believe we hold about you. Email support@sikasio.com with the subject line "SmartRank Privacy".

Local analysis history is retained on your device until you clear it or uninstall the extension.

AI requests are processed in real time and are not retained on our backend after the response is delivered.

Anonymous error logs, when generated, are kept for up to 30 days for debugging and then deleted.

SmartRank is a professional SEO tool intended for web developers, SEO professionals, website owners, and digital marketers. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a minor has used the extension, please contact us so we can address it.

We may update this Privacy Policy as the extension evolves. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, mentioned in the extension's release notes.

Continued use of SmartRank after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
